THE LEGEND OF JARUM VILLAGE
Based on the narratives of historical actors and living witnesses from the residents of Jarum Village, at first, Jarum Village came from Maja Arum because there was a Mojo tree (Aegle Marmelos Correa) located in one of the padukuhan (hamlet) so it was named Jarum. It is said that during the Surakarta sultanate, in this place there was a Palace Bekel. Bekel Keraton is a courtier who is not related by blood. The palace bekel is named Ekomoyo, every time he goes to the palace, he always brings crops.
Once, due to the famine season, Bekel Kraton was forced to bring Mojo fruit which tasted not too sweet and smelled not too fragrant to Sinuhun Paku Buwono as the leader of the Surakarta Sunanate. Surprisingly, when it arrived at the Kraton the mojo fruit smelled sweet and tasted sweet. At the same time, the King ordered Bekel Ekomoyo to call his padukuhan, Mojo Aroem Padukuhan.
The story from an elder that Maja Arum is located in the courtyard of the late Mr. Sowitono, in order to lead a peaceful and prosperous life for its citizens, Jarum Village was renamed Jarum after the New Order became Jarum Village until now.
